Fred is methodical, direct, and when a case needs to be fought, he's exactly who you want in your corner.
Fred practices employment law on behalf of employees – never employers. He's a litigator with over a decade of courtroom experience, a practice built on meticulous preparation, and the judgement to know when a fight is worth having and when it isn’t.
Fred's litigation experience was forged in the world of personal injury law — including regular appearances before the BC Supreme Court and Court of Appeal. At that level, preparation is critical: arguments are scrutinized, judges probe for weaknesses, and counsel needs to remain composed under pressure. That kind of high-stakes experience is formative and shows up in how Fred approaches every file, every strategy, every conversation.
Fred brings the same plaintiff-side mindset to GoodWin. The discipline of representing the person rather than the institution transfers directly — and so does the conviction. Every file he takes on here is on behalf of an employee, a worker, or a professional facing the weight of an employer or regulator.
What makes Fred exceptional isn't just that he’s been tested at the highest levels— it's that he knows what it takes to get there. His first move in any client file is to gather information: documents, timelines, background. The more complete the picture, the more honest the conversation he can have with you about what you're dealing with. He'll tell you what the process looks like, what it costs, and what a realistic outcome is because you’re better served by clear expectations. Sometimes the strongest move is a settlement that puts something in your pocket now, rather than holding out for years at significant expense. It's a deliberate approach: measured, reasonable pressure usually carries a client further than a fight for its own sake. Fred is skilled at navigating these considerations — helping clients find the concession they can genuinely live with and move forward from. That's not a compromise on your behalf. That's the kind of counsel that's truly on your side.
